Everything you need to know about gear and how to prepare for your backcountry adventure. We provide the heavy equipment—you bring the personal essentials.
All major camping equipment is included in your trip cost. You don't need to own or rent any of this gear:
Don't own a backpack? Add $50 to your trip cost and take home a brand new Osprey backpack! This high-quality pack is yours to keep and will serve you well on future adventures.
* This option must be selected at booking. Backpack size will be fitted to your torso length and needs.
Personal gear and clothing you'll need for your trip:
Important: Avoid cotton clothing! It retains moisture and can lead to hypothermia. Choose wool or synthetic materials.
Nice to have but not essential:
Start Training Early: Begin cardiovascular training at least 6-8 weeks before your trip. Focus on hiking with a weighted pack (start with 20 lbs, work up to 30-40 lbs).
Break In Your Boots: Wear your hiking boots on multiple training hikes before your trip. Blisters can ruin an otherwise amazing adventure.
Elevation Considerations: If you're traveling from low elevation to high elevation trips, arrive a day early if possible to acclimate.
Stay Hydrated: Practice drinking more water than you think you need. Proper hydration before and during your trip is crucial.
I'm happy to answer any gear questions or help you prepare for your specific trip.
